Deshaun Watson to hear final decision on suspension next week
According to Ian Rapoport, Browns QB Deshaun Watson is set to hear about the final decision that will be made on the NFL’s suspension appeal by next week. (Source: Ian Rapoport on twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Sue Robinson recently issued Watson a six-game suspension for the sexual assault case that has been ongoing since 2021, once the decision came, though, the NFL quickly turned to appeal the decision and is looking to raise the suspension. Roger Goodell was in charge of deciding who would look after making the final decision on the Watson case as any decision from here on forward is final. The commissioner has put Peter C. Harvey in charge as someone who has previous experience in sexual assault-related cases, Harvey is a former NJ attorney general. This result so far is not surprising as the league had initially recommended to Robinson that Watson be suspended a minimum of 1-year, which means managers in fantasy should prepare to be without the QB for all of the 2022 season, for now he can be held in dynasty leagues, but he should likely be avoided in all redraft leagues. While Watson is out Jacoby Brissett seems poised to lead the offense which will boost his fantasy value, but it will also lower the fantasy outlook of the entire offense at least a minor amount.
Zamir White impresses in Raiders debut
Zamir White had 11 carries and three receptions for 75 total yards in the preseason opener.
Fantasy Impact: The rookie fourth-round pick saw the bulk of the action among Las Vegas’ RBs, but that’s not surprising for the first preseason game. More importantly, he looked the part and could earn a regular role if he continues to produce. He’s firmly behind Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake, though, so he’s at best a late-round flier or handcuff.
Mitch Trubisky is Steelers 1st string QB on their depth chart
Mitch Trubisky was placed as the first-team QB on the Steelers’ first official depth chart. (Source: Josh Rowntree on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Trubisky was signed by Pittsburgh this offseason after serving as Josh Allen’s backup in Buffalo a season ago. The now 6th year player out of UNC will get a chance to revitalize a career that opened with him being selected second overall in 2017. He will most likely be leaning on his weapons heavily as the Steelers do what they can to help him be successful. Trubisky does not offer too much upside considering he is bound to be replaced by first-round pick Kenny Pickett at some point. In Superflex leagues, he is perhaps a depth piece but most likely does not belong on your fantasy roster otherwise.
