Will Derrick Henry Play in Week 17? (2022 Fantasy Football)

Will Derrick Henry Play in Week 17? (2022 Fantasy Football)

Derrick Henry is the No. 3 overall RB in 2022 and has three consecutive RB1 finishes, the latest a 126-yard, one-TD performance against the Texans. He has a much more challenging opponent in Week 17 when the Titans host the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football. Dallas boasts the league’s fifth-best rush defense (by DVOA), and with Malik Willis at the helm, they will be zeroed in on Henry as Tennessee’s primary offensive weapon. Henry began the week on the injury report with a hip issue, which fantasy managers certainly don’t want to see in what is commonly Championship Week. So will Derrick Henry play in Week 17? Here’s what we know.

Derrick Henry (hip) listed as doubtful for Week 17

Derrick Henry has been listed as doubtful for Thursday’s game against the Cowboys.

Fantasy Impact

What a brutal break for fantasy managers with Henry in the fantasy championship. Henry was the only Titans running back to see a carry last week. It would be Dontrell Hilliard if he is healthy or Hassan Haskins in line to lead the Titans backfield, but neither of them are easy players to trust this week.

What the Experts are Saying

Henry was a DNP on Monday (hip). Hassan Haskins should be on your roster if you have Henry on your roster. The Tennessee Tank is the RB4 in fantasy soaking up the second-highest opportunity share while ranking first in carries, third in red zone touches, and second in rushing yards. Henry has seen an uptick in his receiving usage this year, with a 10.8% target share (17th), 32 receptions (22nd), and 379 receiving yards (eighth). He is first in yards per route run and eighth in catch rate. These are beautiful usage metrics to go along with his fifth-most evaded tackles and breakaway runs as the early down hammer. Since Week 11, Dallas has been seventh in rushing success rate, third in EPA per rush, 11th in yards per carry, and fourth in fantasy points per game allowed to running backs. Henry is still a volume-based RB1.
