AJ Pollock signs one-year deal with the Mariners
The Mariners have signed AJ Pollock to a one-year, $7 million deal.
Fantasy Impact
Pollock is coming off a season with the White Sox where he hit .245 with 14 home runs across 138 games. The Mariners were looking to add outfield depth and they did so here. He will likely platoon with Jarred Kelenic to open the season in left field for Seattle.

Gregory Soto traded to the Phillies
The Detroit Tigers have traded reliever Gregory Soto to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Fantasy Impact
Soto was part of a five-player swap between the Tigers and Phillies on Saturday. The hard-throwing left-hander and two-time All-Star posted a 3.28 ERA/3.59 FIP in 2022 along with a 22.8% K%. However, Soto has long struggled with control en route to a career 13.1% BB% despite racking up 48 saves over the last two seasons. Former Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski continues to add to his bullpen on the heels of a World Series appearance last season.

Trevor Bauer designated for assignment
The Los Angeles Dodgers have designated pitcher Trevor Bauer for assignment.
Fantasy Impact
The Dodgers will eat the $22.5 million Bauer is owed this year, making him a free agent. The right-hander served a historical suspension — one that was reduced — and is now eligible to sign with any MLB club. He last appeared in the 2021 season, posting a 2.59 ERA/4.03 FIP en route to eight wins in 17 starts for the Dodgers. The 2020 NL Cy Young winner will look to re-establish himself on a new club in 2023.

Mike Moustakas released by Reds
Mike Moustakas has been released by the Cincinnati Reds. He was previously DFA’d on December 22nd.
Fantasy Impact
Moustakas followed a tough 2021 season with another tough season in 2022, slashing .214/.295/.345 with 7 HRs and a 76 wRC+ in 78 games. His departure will leave more playing time available for infielders like Spencer Steer, Matt Reynolds, and Kevin Newman for the Reds to begin 2023.
