Chris Paddack signs three-year extension with Twins
Chris Paddack and the Minnesota Twins have agreed on a three-year contract extension.
Fantasy Impact
The 27-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery back in May and is expected to return sometime in the second half of 2023. He had a 4.03 ERA (3.10 xERA) and a 20/2 K/BB ratio in 22.1 innings in 2022. He showed some promise in his brief stint with the Twins, and the Twins are clearly showing confidence in him by giving him a multi-year extension.

Luke Weaver signs one-year deal with Reds
Luke Weaver has signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Reds.
Fantasy Impact
Weaver had a 6.56 ERA in 35.2 innings between the Diamondbacks and Royals in 2022. He will have a chance to break into the Reds’ starting rotation to start the 2023 season, although the downgrade in home ballpark doesn’t make him an attractive fantasy target in upcoming drafts.

Andrew McCutchen agrees to one-year deal with Pirates
Andrew McCutchen has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Pirates, pending a physical.
Fantasy Impact
The 36-year-old will return to Pittsburgh where he spent his first nine seasons in the big leagues. This could be a best case scenario for McCutchen from a fantasy perspective, as he may end up in a near-everyday role especially if Bryan Reynolds is traded. McCutchen slashed .237/.316/.384 with 17 HRs and 69 RBI in 134 games last season with the Brewers.

Nelson Cruz agrees to one-year deal with Padres
Nelson Cruz is in agreement on a one-year deal with the San Diego Padres.
Fantasy Impact
Cruz had a down year in 2022, having a wRC+ below 100 (85) for the first time since 2007. He’ll likely platoon in the DH spot with Matt Carpenter, but there is potential for Cruz to be a valuable fantasy player if he can return to form in the powerful Padres lineup.
