Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Stashes: Streamers to Add Before Week 5 (2023)

Week 3 is in the rearview mirror. Now, it’s Week 4, but it can pay to look ahead to Week 5 and beyond to consider the players on waivers you might stash. Go ahead and grab them now rather than having an all-out waiver-wire war with your fellow league mates in a few days’ time.

This column will take a look ahead each week at players rostered in less than 50% of Yahoo leagues.

NFL Week 4 Waiver Wire Stashes

Matthew Stafford (QB – LAR) – 48% Rostered

With the emergence of Puka Nacua, Tutu Atwell, and Kyren Williams, it’s been rather lost that Matthew Stafford is performing very well for the Rams. So far, the fantasy points haven’t been there for the Rams QB with no performances over 15 points, but as this young team finds its feet and with All-Pro Cooper Kupp‘s return on the horizon, it’s worth giving Stafford some consideration. The Rams depleted defense plays the Eagles in Week 5 in what will likely present itself as a pass-first game script for Stafford, and by the Week 6 game with division rivals, Cooper Kupp may well be back on the active roster.

Jake Ferguson (TE – DAL) – 48% Rostered

It doesn’t take much at the tight end position to be a top 12 option, but for Jake Ferguson, it’s also been a tale of what could have been, with Ferguson leading the NFL in red zone targets through three weeks, but despite only scoring one touchdown, Ferguson has scored enough to be the TE11 in back to back weeks. The Cowboys passing game has left meat on the bone so far, but as they hit their pace in this new offense, expect Ferguson’s points to increase, too.

Washington Commanders – 26% Rostered

After a brutal Week 4 matchup with the Eagles, the Commanders get a peach of a matchup against the Chicago Bears in a true battle between two quarterbacks that take sacks like kids take candy on Halloween. Chase Young is finally healthy and could be good for three sacks on his own against a beaten-up, talent-poor Bears offensive line.
