Getting Started on Sorare: MLB

One of the most exciting ways to enjoy the MLB fantasy experience, Sorare gamifies card collecting in a fantasy baseball setting. How does it work? Collect cards (buy, sell, and trade), compete with them (fantasy baseball and collection game), and win rewards (cards, cash, VIP experiences, and more). Sorare has undergone a facelift for the 2024 season, so be sure to give yourself some time before the new Game Week starts to familiarize yourself with the new interface.

Sorare: MLB Overview

There are two main ways to enjoy Sorare: MLB – Pro and the Collection Game.

Sorare Pro

Sorare Pro is the fantasy baseball based competition where managers draft a free team and compete for rewards. There are various competitions for users to choose from, but some are restricted based on card type. Enter your lineup and have the opportunity to win rewards based on your performance. There are two Game Weeks every week, one from Monday to Thursday and the other from Friday to Sunday.

Collection Game

The Collection Game is new for 2024. Compete to raise your Collection Score, which in turn unlocks gameplay bonuses and exclusive rewards. Your fantasy lineups will get a boost based on your Collection Score, making this an essential part of the Sorare experience. Earn up to a 5% collection bonus, which will provide your team with a scoring bonus in XP-eligible competitions.

Cards

There are two types of cards: Free and Pro. Free cards are the Common cards you will be prompted to draft a team of when you sign up for Sorare: MLB. Pro are the cards you can win in competitions or purchase in the marketplace. Common cards, which are free, cannot be bought, sold, or traded. Pro cards can. Each season Soare creates four rarities of Pro cards: Limited (1000 cards), Rare (100 cards), Super Rare (10 cards), and Unique (1 card). Managers will keep these cards in their collections as long as they desire. They even carry over from season to season.

Getting Started

As mentioned above, the first step after signing up for Sorare is to draft a free team of common cards. Studs and duds is the preferred strategy here, which basically means managers should attempt to fit a few elite, high-priced players into your team while filling it with some of the top available budget cards. You can swap one Common card per day after your common lineup is locked. You have until your second Game Week to redraft your team. Common cards do not qualify for the Collection Game.

Sorare Marketplace is where you buy, sell, or trade cards. Take some time to get a feel for the layout as well as the market itself before jumping in. There are no starter packs for the 2024 season, so understanding the market is all the more critical. You can participate in auctions to secure Pro cards, use ‘Instant Buy’ for quick purchases, or engage in Manager Sales to buy directly or trade with other managers.
