Back to the winning ways we went last week at the Travelers. The winning lineups mostly left out Scottie Scheffler and completely omitted runner-up Tom Kim. No matter. Patrick Cantlay and Akshay Bhatia finished tied for fifth, while Cameron Young shot a Saturday 59 and tied for ninth at 6% rostership. Had Bhatia finished the way he started the first 54 holes, the windfall would have been exponentially better. A profit is a profit and a new snowball has begun to trundle.
From one birdie fest to another, this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic features none of the world’s top 20 golfers and returns to a full field and standard 36-hole cut. By the way, the data lit my eyes ablaze, I am supremely confident in the prospects of a heavy, leverage-enabled DFS fortune. My favorites are largely rostered in the single digits and the chalk fades could not stand out more obviously. Big things are afoot this week in the Motor City. Detroit Golf Club is a defenseless fawn of a golf course and will submit to even the most obscure names in the field.
PGA DFS & Picks: Rocket Mortgage Classic (2024)

Detroit Golf Club in Detroit, Michigan is a relatively new offering on the PGA Tour. The event itself is a nice contributor to the city and community at large and puts on a really good show for the patrons. The course is perhaps the least remarkable on Tour but is not lacking in excitement on the leaderboard. Expect tons of birdies on the 7,300-yard track. The par-72 layout plays even shorter yet, with ample fairways and receptive Bengrass-Poa green complexes. Long hitters will enjoy ideal attacking distances on approach, but the golfers will need to stick it close and make a lot of putts to contend, nonetheless. Most of the approach distances are from within 150 yards for a good portion of the field, while hazards and difficult rough are largely absent. Leverage on the field will matter more than ever this week in DFS play. Let’s dig in.
