Top 6 Fantasy Baseball FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups: High-Stakes Leagues (Week 26)

The best players in the world play on NFBC and the most popular high-stakes contest is the NFBC Main Event, which has a $1,750 buy-in with a $7,000 league prize and a $200,000 overall prize. Thankfully, for everyone, NFBC allows us to see what each team is doing with their FAAB pickups on Sunday night.

Each week, I look at the most popular fantasy baseball waiver wire and FAAB pickups in the NFBC Main Event to see who the best players in the world are picking up and whether we should add them.

Fantasy Baseball FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups: Week 26

Kumar Rocker (SP – TEX)

Kumar Rocker was picked up in 55 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $121 and a minimum bid of $1. Rocker is a top-tier pitching prospect who has been fantastic in the Minors this year. He was impressive in his debut despite struggles commanding and controlling his fantastic stuff. There is a lot of strikeout upside here, but it is hard to know if he will go deep enough into games to qualify for wins.

Jacob deGrom (SP – TEX)

Jacob deGrom made his debut last week and looked good doing so, which is why he was picked up in 45 leagues, with a max bid of $110 and a minimum bid of $1. He is the best pitcher in baseball when healthy but missed the entire season thus far recovering from Tommy John surgery. Pitchers often struggle with command and control when they return from Tommy John surgery. There is a ton of upside with him in his final few starts, though, and he will be a hot topic in draft season next year.

Hunter Goodman (1B, C, DH, OF – COL)

Hunter Goodman was picked up in 44 leagues with a max bid of $22 and a minimum bid of $1. Goodman has a ton of power and is at home for the majority of the rest of the season. He is also catcher-eligible. He has struggled with contact, but there is upside here.

Pavin Smith (1B, DH, OF – ARI)

Pavin Smith was picked up in 34 leagues with a max bid of $15 and a minimum bid of $1. Smith has been really good but doesn’t play every day in Arizona. However, they only have one lefty on the docket this week and half of their games are in Colorado, which makes him an interesting pickup.

Tylor Megill (SP – NYM)

Tylor Megill was picked up in 27 leagues with a max bid of $52 and a minimum bid of $1. Megill has been really good since returning to the Mets’ rotation. He has a decent two-step versus the Nationals and the Phillies. He has not allowed a home run in 15.1 innings since returning and has only walked four while striking out 18. He is a nice streamer for the week

Jesus Tinoco (RP – MIA)

Jesus Tinoco has assumed the closer job in Miami with Calvin Faucher hitting the injured list (IL), which is why he was picked up in 27 leagues with a max bid of $13 and a minimum bid of $1. Tinoco has really good stuff but can struggle with his control, but he has reigned it in lately. The only problem is the Marlins aren’t very good, so it is hard to imagine there will be a ton of saves to be had over the last two weeks of the season.
