2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Jared Wilson

Jared Wilson (OG – Georgia)

6-foot-3 | 310 Pounds

Background

Jared Wilson is a  North Carolina native who originally committed to the Tar Heels but ended up at Georgia as a 345-pound three-star recruit listed at guard.

Spent his first three seasons as a backup (including a redshirt year), getting a bit more playing time in 2023 (131 snaps) before taking over the starting center job this season, replacing Sedrick Van Pran-Granger (fifth round, Bills). Didn’t allow a sack over the year.

Positives

Thickly-built center who has stepped right into a starting job in the SEC and put together consistent play, looking more comfortable than usual for a first-year starter. Rangier than his size would suggest, with impressive short-area quickness and a solid work rate. Wilson was asked to pull with regularity and looks like he could be a weapon on those concepts. As a squattier build, has very good natural leverage.

Fires out low and shows good explosiveness out of his stance when working up to the second level. Does a good job of lining up opponents and engaging with form. Avoids overcommitting and lunging in space. Hand placement is generally good. Active with his feet after contact; can kick out opponents when blocking on angles. Light on his feet, with good lateral quickness in his pass sets; alert, keeping his head on a swivel in pass pro. Does a good job of maintaining leverage and playing with knee bend and a stable base. Absorbs power easily, keeping opponents out of his frame and dropping an early anchor against bull-rushers. Looks great getting out into space on screens.

Negatives

Only a one-year starter who missed a couple of games this season with a foot injury. Is a little bit older than some other prospects after spending four years in school. Length appears closer to average. A bit more workmanlike than nasty.

Minor instances of him getting off-balance in pass protection as he tries to reach opponents. Booker was listed at a much higher weight as a recruit, so conditioning could be an issue, although he looks athletic and well-conditioned on tape. Limited experience at guard — 93 career snaps, per Pro Football Focus (PFF).

Summary

A better prospect than his predecessor, with a thick build, sound technique and impressive versatility in the run game owing to his quickness, range and ability to play within his frame.

Wilson shows good awareness. As a strong anchor in pass protection and should be able to mix it up with pro nose tackles. While he doesn’t have as much starting experience as most other top linemen in the class, he looks relatively advanced and should be able to work his way into a pro lineup sooner rather than later. Looks like a good bet to come off the board on Day 2.

Projection: Round 2/Round 3
