Fantasy Baseball Rumors & MLB News

Kyle Schwarber could see more time in outfield

Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski hinted at the fact that Kyle Schwarber could see more time in the outfield during the 2025 season.

Fantasy Impact

Dombrowski mentioned that they could give J.T. Realmuto more playing time at designated hitter, which would move Schwarber to the outfield. It is unclear if he’ll see enough games in the outfield to earn eligibility at that position.

Nolan Arenado could remain with Cardinals entering season

Cardinals President of Business Operations John Mozeliak said that the odds are greater now that Nolan Arenado is the opening day third baseman in St. Louis than traded.

Fantasy Impact

Arenado had been linked to the Red Sox who signed Alex Bregman Wednesday night. There are still other teams who have expressed interest in trading for Arenado, but a deal sounds unlikely as of now given his contract situation.

Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) to be less aggressive on the bases in 2025

Braves superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. has acknowledged he will be less aggressive on the bases in 2025 after sustaining a torn left ACL in May 2024.

Fantasy Impact

Acuna tore his right ACL in the 2021 season and is continuing to rehab the torn left ACL he suffered in May 2024. After a monster 2023 season that saw him slug 41 home runs alongside an MLB-best 73 stolen bases, fantasy managers will have to be mindful of what will likely be a significant decline in stolen bases in 2025, especially with a May return looking like the likeliest of scenarios at this time.
