4 Undervalued Rookies (2025 Fantasy Football)

Hitting on your rookie draft selections is the easiest way to escape dynasty purgatory. Unfortunately, that’s one of the most difficult parts of our job. A coin flip between two similarly-graded prospects can be the difference between winning or losing your favorite fantasy league.

Luckily for our readers, the team at FantasyPros has your back. While others are taking a much-needed break from the grind, we’re already knee-deep in 2025 NFL Draft coverage.

With the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, Pro Days and plenty of data/film to dig through, we’re still in the early stages of the evaluation process. However, here are four undervalued 2025 rookies to target based on current FantasyPros 2025 dynasty rookie rankings.

2025 NFL Draft Guide: Mock Drafts, Scouting Reports & More

Early Undervalued Rookies

Matthew Golden (WR – Texas)

After two seasons at Houston, wide receiver Matthew Golden entered his name into the transfer portal before eventually finding his way to Austin, Texas. Splitting targets with pass-catchers Gunnar Helm, Isaiah Bond, Ryan Wingo and DeAndre Moore limited the transfer’s impact early in the season, but it didn’t take long for Golden to rise to the top of the wide receiver depth chart.

Golden saved his best for last, averaging 102.8 receiving yards per game over the final four contests (SEC Championship and three College Football Playoff games). Golden’s speed, route-running and special teams versatility will be an asset to any team that drafts him and it won’t be long before he’s ranked above Tre Harris, Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward (among others) in 1-QB rookie rankings.

Colston Loveland (TE – Michigan)

Penn State’s versatile tight end Tyler Warren is my TE1 in the 2025 NFL Draft, but it’s hard to justify this wide of a gap between him and Michigan tight end Colston Loveland. Warren is fairly ranked at No. 7 overall, but Loveland is too talented to be ranked No. 16 overall.

Injuries and below-average quarterback play impacted Loveland’s numbers this season, but he remains one of the highest-upside tight ends in this draft class. He has good hands, a wide frame and should get the first-round draft capital we love to invest in at the tight end position.

The gap between Loveland and TE3 Harold Fannin Jr. is wider than the difference between Loveland and Warren, which isn’t currently reflected in the rankings. That likely changes after the 2025 NFL Draft, so take advantage of that oversight in the short term.

Jayden Higgins (WR – Iowa State)

With a 6-foot-4 frame and above-average route running for someone his size, Iowa State wide receiver Jayden Higgins is one of the most intriguing wide receiver prospects in this year’s draft class. Players with his size, speed and body control typically profile as the high-volume X-receivers we covet in fantasy football.

Despite all the green flags surrounding Higgins, he remains an undervalued dynasty rookie asset based on the FantasyPros’ rookie consensus expert rankings. Higgins is unfathomably ranked No. 23 overall (WR11), behind players like Fannin, Devin Neal, Xavier Restrepo and Bond. Buy him at a discount while you still can.

Jordan James (RB – Oregon)

Despite racking up 1,400+ total yards and 15 touchdowns this season, Oregon running back Jordan James is the most undervalued player in current dynasty rookie rankings. James is currently ranked down at No. 39 overall (RB13) by early rankers, below players like Tai Felton, Quinn Ewers, Damien Martinez, Jaylin Noel and Tory Horton, among others.

James has enough juice to excel in space, but his greatest strength might be between the tackles. The 20-year-old (21 in March) running back has terrific vision and patience when setting up blockers and does a great job of creating yards after contact. For those in PPR leagues, he’s also an underrated pass-catcher out of the backfield.
