Evan Engram Signs With Broncos: Fantasy Football Impact

Engram lands in Denver to play the “Joker” role for Sean Payton. Engram has cemented himself as a TE1 over the last three seasons (TE12, TE4, TE7), and there’s no reason to expect a drop-off now. Engram should compete with Courtland Sutton for the weekly lead in targets as a trusted weapon for Bo Nix in an offense that, after Week 9 last year, ranked 12th in red-zone passing rate.

When Engram has been the focal point of a passing attack, he has exhibited top-five upside at the tight end position in fantasy football. The most recent example of this was in 2023 when he was the TE4 in fantasy points per game while commanding a 23.8% target share (second-best among tight ends). During that season, he lined up in the slot or out wide on 73.9% of his snaps while ranking ninth in yards per route run overall and third in yards per route run versus man coverage among tight ends (per PFF).

Last year, Engram’s season was crushed by injuries (shoulder/hamstring) as he was limited to nine games. Unsurprisingly, he saw his efficiency numbers dip to 17th in yards per route run and 13th in yards per route against man coverage. Assuming that Engram can stay healthy for the 2025 season, we should expect a bounce-back campaign. With Denver’s passing game situation and Engram’s talent, he should be considered at his floor a top-12 fantasy football option at the tight end position with massive upside.
