Fantasy football is a continuously growing game. We have gone from playing in standard leagues with no point per reception to tier-based PPR scoring, where each position gets a different amount per reception. Leagues have gone from the old school 1QB and one flex lineup to having a superflex spot and a second traditional flex slot instead of a kicker or D/ST.
Furthermore, fantasy football formats have changed over the years. Snake drafts are still popular, but auction drafts have gained momentum. Meanwhile, Redraft, keeper, and dynasty formats have been around forever, while daily fantasy leagues are a completely different animal. However, best ball, salary cap, vampire, and guillotine leagues are fairly new forms of fantasy football. Yet, the world of fantasy football continues to come up with new ideas.

League Tycoon Platform Breakdown
Leading the way is League Tycoon. The up-and-coming platform is the future of fantasy football, especially dynasty leagues. Their platform is easier, smarter, and more exciting than ever. It offers users new ways to play fantasy football and improved ways to existing formats. Whether you want to try a new form of fantasy football or compete against other top players, League Tycoon is the perfect platform for both.
The best thing fantasy players can do to learn more about League Tycoon is to check out their platform. However, let me provide you with some of the top details from my exploration of League Tycoon.
Overview
League Tycoon can be accessed through a web browser or their user-friendly app. The platform has several intriguing forms of fantasy football. However, it also has multiple informative articles, including what your free agent acquisition budget (FAAB) is and how to use it, how to negotiate a trade, salary cap overview, and much more.
Furthermore, League Tycoon has easy access to fantasy football championship trophies and belts. Fantasy players are one click away from finding the perfect trophy or belt for their league champion, toilet bowl winner, or last-place finisher.
Layout
Fantasy players who like playing on Sleeper will love League Tycoon. The platform’s web browser and app are user-friendly and very similar to Sleeper. They have a Discord group where fantasy players can get questions answered. League Tycoon also has an easy “how to play” button to provide users with assistance and a quick “report and issue” button.
My favorite part of the platform’s layout is the easy access to my direct messages and fantasy leagues. You can bounce from one conversation to another or from league to direct messages within two seconds. Furthermore, the state-of-the-art app allows fantasy players to be engaged with their league all year long. Users can easily create a new league from the app or web browser’s home page.
Type of Leagues
Unfortunately, League Tycoon isn’t designed for those who want simple and old-fashioned redraft or dynasty leagues. However, that shouldn’t stop fantasy players from trying out the new platform. While those older-style leagues are still fun, fantasy players should explore what new, exciting forms of fantasy football League Tycoon offers.
Let’s look at their three forms of fantasy football.
Contract Leagues
Contract leagues are also known as salary cap leagues. They have been around for a little while. However, they aren’t the most popular because few platforms give fantasy players the option to set up a salary cap league. Typically, fantasy players have to use a platform like Sleeper and a Google Spreadsheet to keep track of all the nuances of a contract league, including each player’s contract details.
However, that isn’t the case with League Tycoon. They offer an excellent platform for die-hard contract or salary-cap league fantasy players. Their platform will manage each player’s contract extension when they are set to be free agents and more, without ever needing a spreadsheet or adding notes to a player’s profile card. Furthermore, League Tycoon offers franchise tag and more options in their contract or salary cap leagues, giving fantasy players extensive control when setting up their league.
More importantly, League Tycoon is extremely user-friendly. They provide users with a helpful video to explain contract leagues. Furthermore, the platform has extensive information on every small detail regarding contract leagues, including tiebreakers, practice squad rules, and much more. Be sure to check it out before getting started.
Graveyard Leagues
Graveyard leagues are a unique form of fantasy football. There is no draft with Graveyard leagues. Instead, fantasy players set their lineup each week from the entire NFL player pool. However, there is a catch. Users can only start a player for one week all season long. Therefore, once you start a player, he moves to your graveyard and never returns.
Furthermore, Graveyard leagues have one massive thing in common with Guillotine leagues – you do not want to finish in last place. Instead of taking on a specific opponent, users face everyone in the league in a race to avoid last place each week. The lowest-scoring team(s) are eliminated each week, meaning fantasy players could have a short stay in a Graveyard league.
Leagues can have as few as four teams and as many as 2,000. You can start and end a Graveyard league at any point during the NFL season, as the platform will adjust the elimination schedule to fit based on your league size and start/end date. Make sure to check out League Tycoon’s full breakout on Graveyard leagues before getting started.
Gambit Leagues
Gambit leagues might be my personal favorite option on League Tycoon’s platform. This format is the closest option fantasy players can get to traditional redraft leagues on League Tycoon. However, there is one small twist that makes Gambit Leagues so wild and strategic.
Fantasy players must spend the first round of their Gambit league draft selecting a coach for the season. Once a coach has been selected, no other team can draft them. Each coach brings a different scheme or trait to a team, which will impact fantasy players’ draft strategy.
Pairing the right coach with the correct draft strategy will give fantasy players a massive leg up on their opponents in a Gambit league. Each coach will help out a fantasy team in one specific area. Every coach provides your fantasy team with a boost. However, some coaches also come with downside.
For example, if you draft Hugh Raye, the Celebration Dance coach, every player on your team will receive 7.5 points per touchdown, including passing and D/STs scores. Meanwhile, if you draft Horace Cope, the Stars and Scrubs coach, your RB1 and WR1 slot players will receive a 50% bump in scoring each week. However, your RB2 and WR2 slot players will lose 15% of their weekly fantasy points with this coach.
There are 16 coaching options in Gambit leagues. Each coach has a unique trait that could give you the needed push to win a championship. Be sure to check out each coach’s trait before you start your first Gambit league draft.
Ranked Competitions
Fantasy players can play in ranked competitions for each format mentioned above. Ranked competitions are for more experienced or aggressive fantasy players who can rise up and down the platform’s rankings from Rookie to Hall of Fame. Every ranked competition costs one Tycoon Token to enter. League Tycoon has a short video on their platform breaking down all six ranks, allowing fantasy players to showcase their skill and progression.
Pricing
League Tycoon offers free and paid leagues. Their Gambit and Graveyard leagues are always free to play. However, contract leagues aren’t free. Users must activate their team for the cost of one token per season. Furthermore, ranked competitions cost one Tycoon Token. Each token costs $11.99.
Yet, fantasy players get a free entry into a ranked competition with the activation of a contract league team. Users can win tokens by winning ranked competitions. Fantasy players can use these tokens to enter more ranked competitions or on contract leagues. About 60% of the tokens are given back for free on League Tycoon.
