Scottie Scheffler looks to defend his 2024 title at the Memorial Tournament this week. It’s the latest Signature Event, held at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.
It’s affectionately nicknamed “Jack’s Place” due to famous golfer and golf architect, Jack Nicklaus, designing this par 72 alongside Desmond Muirhead in 1974. The 72 golfers who qualified to play in this field will be faced with challenges from tee box to green at Muirfield. A cut line is enforced here, unlike what we’ve seen at a few other Signature Events in 2025.
My PGA DraftKings and FanDuel DFS Primer: Charles Schwab Challenge flopped last week. The lone hit came on J.J. Spaun at $8.4K on DraftKings due to a strong T6 finish. Aaron Rai and Alex Smalley missed the cut, while Thornbjorn Olesen logged a forgettable T46 finish at even par.
I’ve regrouped and have a brand-new PGA DFS Primer for the 2025 Memorial Tournament. Follow me on X at Matt_MacKay_ for more PGA DFS recommendations, plus analysis and free picks during the remainder of the 2025 PGA Tour season.

Course Overview
Muirfield Village Golf Club is a par 72 that runs 7,569 yards. It features mostly doglegged, tree-lined fairways with thick four-inch bluegrass and ryegrass rough to punish errant tee shots.
5,000 square foot Bentgrass greens are undulated and measure over 13 feet via Stimpmeter. The fairways are also Bentgrass, while no new renovations were made during the offseason.
Three of four par 3s are over 200 yards, while all four par 5s are less than 590 yards. Most of the water hazards can be found on the back-nine, although these hazards do begin to come into play towards the end of the front-nine.
Golfers who lack distance or accuracy off-the-tee with their driver are going to have a difficult time going under par at Muirfield this week. Approach shots aren’t as important due to the relatively large size of the Bentgrass greens, although putting becomes critical while dealing with high velocity undulations.
Recommended Plays: DraftKings
DraftKings maximum salary is set at $50,000
Sungjae Im: $8,100
I’ve come around on Sungjae Im since earlier in 2025. He’s well rested after missing the cut at the PGA Championship two weeks ago. The South Korean has three top 25 finishes, including a top five at the Masters, since early April.
Ranked 18th SG: Off-the-Tee, including 10th in driving accuracy. Also 25th SG: Putting, which is why Im is 28th in scoring average and 12th in birdie average. Coming off of a solid T8 finish at the 2024 Memorial Tournament.
At $8.1K, let’s prioritize Im in DraftKings lineups at a nice discounted rate, offering driver accuracy and a strong putting game.
Matt Fitzpatrick: $8,000
I’ll stick in this same range and back Matt Fitzpatrick at an $8K salary. The Englishman has back-to-back top 25 finishes entering Muirfield, including a T8 at the PGA Championship.
Fitzpatrick is ranked 11th on approach shots from 200+ yards, 22nd in sand save rate and 69th SG: Off-the-Tee. He’s beginning to improve his game from earlier in 2025, posting back-to-back quality finishes in May.
T5 at Muirfield in 2024 and a T9 in 2023. Let’s back Fitzpatrick and insert him into our DraftKings lineups at an even $8,000.

FanDuel maximum salary is set at $60,000
Sepp Straka: $10,500
Somehow, Sepp Straka is going for only $10.5K on FanDuel. The Austrian has two outright wins in 2025, including recently at the Truist Championship in Philadelphia.
Yes, he doesn’t have a ton of distance and power off-the-tee. However, Straka’s specialty is staying accurate tee-to-green, while burying birdie putts with an improved putting stroke.
Ranks fifth in total strokes gained, including second SG: Approach, 28th SG: Putting and 11th in driving accuracy. Also leads the PGA Tour for greens in regulation hit at 72 percent, while sitting second in proximity.
Recent finishes at Muirfield include T16 and a T5 finishes in 2023 and 2024. Let’s grab Straka in a prime bounce-back spot at the Memorial Tournament after missing the cut at Quail Hollow during the PGA Championship.
Rickie Fowler: $8,400
Rickie Fowler has been a mainstay at “Jack’s Place”, competing 15 times at Muirfield Village. Among those outings, Fowler has two runner-up finishes and four top 10s, although he did miss the cut at the 2024 Memorial Tournament.
His driver is the best club in the bag. Ranked 66th SG: Off-the-Tee, which includes 21st total driving and 58th in driving accuracy. 66th scrambling and 49th in putts per round is enough for me to bite on Fowler at a cheap $8.4K salary on FanDuel.
He’s trending up in May, with a T15 at the Truist Championship and a T16 at the Charles Schwab Challenge on Sunday. Don’t hesitate to plug Fowler into FanDuel DFS lineups at a course he’s navigated well throughout his 16-year PGA Tour career.
