The 3M Open is set to tee off from TPC Twin Cities outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota for the latest PGA Tour event. Only two events are left before the top 70 ranked golfers in the FedExCup standings qualify for the FedExCup playoffs. This means it’s go time for most in this field.
Last week’s PGA DraftKings and FanDuel DFS Primer: The Open Championship DFS Primer was a success. Russell Henley, Matt Fitzpatrick and Harris English all logged top 10 finishes or better, while Harry Hall carded a T28 finish. Fitzpatrick and English played extremely well but no one in the field could keep pace with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who won his first Open Championship major by four strokes.
I’ve got four more golfers to prioritize in DraftKings and FanDuel DFS contests at the 2025 3M Open. Follow me on X at Matt_MacKay_ for more PGA free picks and analysis.

Course Overview
TPC Twin Cities is a par 71 running 7,431 yards in length. Water hazards are plentiful, with four-inch bluegrass rough and strategically placed sand bunkers. Most fairways are open and not tree-lined, while the greens average 6,500 square feet, slightly bigger than PGA Tour average.
Stimpmeter readings show 13 feet putting velocity, which is roughly as fast as a PGA Tour green runs. Four par 3s and three par 5s. Two par 4s under 400 yards, while all three par 5s are over 590 yards.
This is a bomber’s course. A long driver will set up golfers for success, although approach play and putting also goes a long way to low scores.
Recommended Plays: DraftKings
DraftKings maximum salary is set at $50,000
Jake Knapp: $8,900
Jake Knapp’s game fits perfectly with the layout at TPC Twin Cities. He’s logged four straight top 30 finishes on the PGA Tour, recording 18-23 birdies in all four outings.
Knapp ranks 32nd total strokes gained in 2025. This includes 12th SG: Putting, 27th driving distance and top 30 for scrambling and approach shots from 200+ yards. He’s 14th in scoring average and top 10 in birdie average and par 4 scoring, so prioritize Knapp in lineups at this sub-$9,000 salary.
Michael Thorbjornsen: $8,500
Another bomber off-the-tee in this field is Michael Thorbjornsen. The 23-year-old ranks second in total driving, including fourth for driving distance, while also sitting fourth for greens in regulation.
Thorbjornsen is ninth on approach shots from 200+ yards. He’s also fifth in birdie average and top 20 in scoring average this season. T4-T21-T14 entering Thursday’s opening round at the 3M Open.

Recommended Plays: FanDuel
FanDuel maximum salary is set at $60,000
Jhonattan Vegas: $9,300
It may feel square to back last year’s winner, Jhonattan Vegas, during his title defense this week. However, Vegas’ game translates well to TPC Twin Cities, posting two top-five finishes at this event since 2021.
Vegas enters this week with zero top 25 finishes since a T5 at the PGA Championship two months ago. Ranks 38th SG: Off-the-Tee, 41st driving distance and top 60 for greens in regulation hit.
A $9,300 salary on FanDuel is a bit easier to digest in comparison to DraftKings due to having an extra $10,000 salary allotted for roster construction. Vegas is a horse for this course, so don’t hesitate to back him, despite lackluster production in June and July.
Kevin Roy: $9,000
Kevin Roy has climbed leaderboards during the last two months, including T8 at the Rocket Classic and T3 at the John Deere Classic. He’s hit a bit of regression at the ISCO Championship and Barracuda Championship with a missed cut and a T35.
Ranks 40th total strokes gained, including 33rd SG: Off-the-Tee. 55th SG: Approach and fourth total driving. 25th at finding greens in regulation, 14th proximity and 10th on approach shots from 200+ yards.
Roy is flying under the radar at $9,000. Top five in scoring average and par 4 scoring, while averaging 3.98 birdies per round in 2025. Plug the 35-year-old American into lineups at a nice discounted rate for the 2025 3M Open.
