PGA DraftKings and FanDuel DFS Primer: BMW Championship (2025)

The second of three FedExCup Playoff events, the BMW Championship, returns to Cave Valley Golf Course in Owings Mills, Maryland this week. This field consists of the PGA Tour’s top 50 golfers in the latest FedExCup Rankings. While there is no cut line enforced, only the top 30 ranked golfers will advance to the TOUR Championship in Atlanta, Georgia next week.

My PGA DraftKings and FanDuel DFS Primer: FedEx St. Jude Championship DFS Primer didn’t deliver any top 20 finishes at TPC Southwind. Harry Hall and Brian Harman were the best performers, each carding a T22 finish. Lucas Glover and Wyndham Clark slid outside the top 40 in Memphis, returning little value with these four golfers in DFS contests.

Course Overview

Patrick Cantlay set Caves Valley Golf Course on fire with a 27-under-par finish to win the 2021 BMW Championship. Four years later, major renovations have been made, like dropping from a par 72 to a par 70, while adding nearly 100 yards of distance.

Caves Valley runs just over 7,600 yards, so bombers off-the-tee and on approach will hold an advantage. Bentgrass greens are expected to run 12.5 feet via Stimpmeter, which is the customary pace of this surface on PGA Tour events.

Rough is comprised of fescue bluegrass and stands at a beefy four inches. Hot and steamy temperatures, with minimal winds, will firm up the green speeds, while creating little resistance off-the-tee and on approach.

DraftKings maximum salary is set at $50,000

Cameron Young: $9,800

Cameron Young offers power off-the-tee and excellent putting ability. This makes him a valuable asset to plug into DFS lineups at Caves Valley this week.

Young recently carded his first PGA Tour win at the Wyndham Championship in dominant fashion. He’s coming off of a solo fifth-place finish at TPC Southwind last week and has six top 10 finishes in 2025, with four of those being recorded since June.

Matt Fitzpatrick: $8,900

Last week’s T32 finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship ended Matt Fitzpatrick’s five consecutive Top 20 finishing position streak. The Englishman has been red-hot down the stretch of the regular season.

Ranks 37th for total strokes gained. This includes 26th SG: Putting, 17th on 200+ yard approach shots and top-ten for sand save percentage.

Fitzpatrick’s consistency over the past two months is enough to warrant plugging him into DraftKings contests at under $9,000. He’ll need to score low enough to boost himself from 40th to 30th in the FedExCup Rankings to advance to East Lake Golf Club for the final playoff event next week, so expect plenty of birdies from a two-time PGA Tour winner.

FanDuel maximum salary is set at $60,000

Chris Gotterup: $9,100

Memphis cooled off Chris Gotterup, despite its hot temperatures. The Scottish Open champion has regressed in each of the three subsequent events he’s played, although two of those finishes were still inside the top ten.

Gotterup is a bomber off-the-tee. He’s ranked 10th in driving distance, averaging 316 yards per attempt. Also seventh for greens in regulation, 17th scrambling, and 19th in sand save percentage.

Fifth in scoring average, seventh for par 4 scoring and top 20 in birdie average is enough to justify rostering Gotterup at Caves Valley, despite a T52 finish at TPC Southwind on Sunday.

Rickie Fowler: $8,100

Rickie Fowler just snuck into the top 50 to qualify for the BMW Championship with a strong T6 finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. The six-time PGA Tour winner logged only his second top 10 finish in 2025, however, his form fits Caves Valley.

Ranks 28th in putts per round and 42nd in scoring average. Three top 20 finishes in his last five PGA Tour events.

Fowler knows he’ll need another strong outing to climb into the top 30 for next week’s Tour Championship, so at an $8,100, grab the value on this veteran golfer.
