Christian McCaffrey (calf) questionable to play Sunday
Christian McCaffrey (calf) is officially questionable to play in Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Fantasy Impact
McCaffrey was a surprise addition to the injury report on Thursday and was not able to practice on Friday due to a calf injury of some kind. He is now officially questionable to play heading into the weekend, and we still haven’t heard much from the team regarding the severity of this injury or the anticipated timeline for recovery. This is a situation that fantasy managers should be monitoring very closely heading into the weekend, as Brian Robinson Jr. will be a quality start if the star running back has to miss time.

Fantasy Impact
McCaffrey was added to the injury report as a limited participant on Thursday. This remains a situation to monitor as coach Kyle Shanahan addresses the media later in the afternoon.

Christian McCaffrey added to practice report
Christian McCaffrey has been added to the San Francisco 49ers practice report as limited due to a calf issue.
Fantasy Impact
A calf injury for star running back Christian McCaffrey is not news fantasy managers want or need to hear. In what sounds eerily familiar to the start of the 2024 season, when his week 1 status was up in the air, fantasy managers will want to keep a close eye on the final injury report for the week. If kept out, it could open up an opportunity for Brian Robinson, recently added from the Washington Commanders.

What the Experts Are Saying
He’s baaaaaack! Not Kyle’s cousin Kyle, but the legendary fantasy RB Christian McCaffrey is ready to regain his fantasy crown after missing almost all of last season. There are a few things worth forgetting, including the fact that Jaws had a sequel, and CMC’s 2024 season is at the top of that list. If he is healthy (which remains TBD given the calf injury that has popped up late in the week), then CMC is a true X factor for fantasy. In 2023, CMC scored 357 fantasy points, which was 18 more than Barkley had last season. This season, the 49ers have one of the easiest schedules for running backs. Add that to the abundance of drama at the receiver position, and CMC should be fed both on the ground and through the air. Off pure usage, he could very well finish as the RB1 on the week against a revamped Seattle defense. But he can also become an injury headache. It seems like managers will need to embrace the risk as early as Week 1 with his questionable status.
