Devy Fantasy Primer: College Football Week 4 (2025)

Auburn heads to Norman in a clash of ranked foes as the Tigers face off with the Sooners in our Game of the Week. Storylines are everywhere — former Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold returns wearing Auburn colors, while Heisman hopeful John Mateer looks to solidify his case on the big stage. With both teams lighting up the scoreboard and featuring two of the nation’s most efficient offenses, this matchup has all the makings of a Saturday afternoon thriller.

Game of The Week

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

#22 Auburn @ #11 Oklahoma (-6.5) | 48.5 | Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC

Another top-25 matchup comes to Norman, but this time it’s an SEC clash. Former Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold makes his return to his previous school, leading the Auburn Tigers to their first top-25 ranking since 2021. Through three games, Arnold has not thrown an interception and has completed nearly 70% of his passes to go along with eight touchdowns (four passing, four rushing).

On the other side of the field will be Heisman Trophy hopeful John Mateer, who is looking to take down his second top-25 team this season. Both teams are averaging more than 30 points per game and have scored on every red-zone trip so far. There has been only one turnover created this season between the two defenses (Auburn). The strength in this game clearly lies with the quarterbacks and the offenses.

On paper, Oklahoma’s defense has performed better this season, but Auburn did play the high-powered Baylor offense. I’m backing Mateer and the Sooners to take the win and cover in this one. Oklahoma’s defense should be able to slow down Arnold and the Tigers’ offense just enough to keep this one under 48.5 points. BettingPros’ projections lean toward the under and Oklahoma covering.

My Picks:

  • Moneyline: Oklahoma (-250)
  • Spread: Oklahoma -6.5 (-114)
  • Total: Under 48.5 (-120)

Devy Spotlight

Darian Mensah (QB – Duke) | 2026

Darian Mensah has come into Durham on fire through three games. He has passed for over 300 yards and at least two touchdowns in each game. He could gain some steam with the 2026 quarterback class being wide open at this point. Mensah gets a very juicy matchup against NC State at home this week. NC State allows nearly 300 passing yards and 24 points per game.

Heisman Trophy Race

The top five Heisman Trophy favorites after Week 3:

  1. Carson Beck (QB – Miami) | +750
  2. John Mateer (QB – Oklahoma) | +950
  3. Gunner Stockton (QB – Georgia) | +1200
  4. Jeremiah Smith (WR – Ohio State) | +1200
  5. Dante Moore (QB – Oregon) | +1300

A slight shake-up this week with Garrett Nussmeier and Arch Manning dropping from the top five to make room for Gunner Stockton and Jeremiah Smith. John Mateer has an opportunity to take over as the favorite with a win and a big game against #22 Auburn at home. Utah quarterback Devon Dampier (+1700) sits just outside of the top five and plays #17 Texas Tech at home with a chance to improve his odds again.
