Friday night in Austin brings more than just bragging rights as Texas A&M and Texas renew their rivalry under the brightest spotlight of the season.
An unbeaten Aggies squad led by Heisman hopeful Marcel Reed rolls in with SEC title and playoff ambitions, while the battle-tested Longhorns cling to faint postseason hopes and a surging offense. With elite pass-rushers on both sides and star playmakers all over the field, this showdown has all the ingredients to reshape the playoff picture in one game.

Game of The Week
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
#3 Texas A&M @ #16 Texas (+2.5) | 51.5 | Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC
Even with three losses, the Longhorns somehow still have a chance at making the playoffs with an upset win over the Aggies. Of course, with a loss, they are out. With a win, the Aggies are in the SEC title game; with a loss, they would need a couple of other dominoes to fall in their favor to make it in. Regardless of making it to the SEC title game, they seem to be safely in the playoffs.
Texas A&M is led by Heisman Trophy candidate Marcel Reed and an offense that ranks in the top 30 for passing and rushing, and in the top 10 for scoring. They’ll be challenged by a Longhorns defense that is as good as any other team at getting to the quarterback and stopping the run, as they rank seventh in rush defense.
Texas A&M’s calling card on defense has been getting to the quarterback (second in sacks, fourth in quarterback hits) and getting off the field on third downs, where they rank first in the nation at 21.1%. The Longhorns’ offense has found its stride, gaining over 400 yards in three of its last four games.
I’m riding with the Aggies to go into Austin and walk away with a victory on the way to the SEC title game. While Texas’ defense is tough, Reed and wide receivers KC Concepcion and Mario Craver are more than capable of putting up points, allowing their defense to pin their ears back and get after Arch Manning often to cause chaos.
My Picks:
Devy Spotlight
Malachi Toney (WR – Miami) | 2028
Malachi Toney has made his presence known in the Hurricanes’ offense from the first game of the season against Notre Dame. He has showcased his elite athleticism and blazing speed, drawing comparisons to past Miami greats Santana Moss and Devin Hester.
Toney is a long way out from being draft eligible, but what he has shown so far makes him a player you want to invest in in your devy league. He has three 100-yard games and two multi-touchdown games.
Heisman Trophy Race
The top five Heisman Trophy favorites after Week 13:
- Fernando Mendoza (QB – Indiana) | -125
- Julian Sayin (QB – Ohio State) | +450
- Jeremiyah Love (RB – Notre Dame) | +450
- Diego Pavia (QB – Vandy) | +500
- Marcel Reed (QB – Texas A&M) | +1300
Fernando Mendoza widened the gap between himself and the field during Indiana’s bye week as they prepare to close out an undefeated regular season against rival Purdue. Julian Sayin posted his second-lowest completion rate this season on only 19 attempts as Ryan Day mixed in plenty of Lincoln Kienholz in Ohio State’s blowout victory over Rutgers.
The top running back in the 2026 class makes a jump up to +450 after a highly efficient game with 171 yards and a trio of touchdowns on only eight touches. Diego Pavia remains in the top five after celebrating his Senior Day with over 500 yards and six touchdowns.
Marcel Reed and Texas A&M played Samford, where Reed played limited snaps, putting up 124 yards and three touchdowns. Coming into this week, it felt like it was down to Mendoza and Sayin, but Love is making plenty of noise heading into the last week of the regular season.
