FantasyPros will be taking a look at early NFL Draft scouting reports before the Combine in February. Here’s a look at Ohio State offensive tackle Austin Siereveld.

2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Austin Siereveld

Austin Siereveld (OT – Ohio State)

6’5″ – 325 lbs.

Background:

Four-star recruit and Ohio native who redshirted in 2023, then started a total of six games at left guard the following season, totaling 495 snaps overall, of which roughly a third came at right guard; during the season, allowed three sacks and eleven combined sacks-hits-pressures (3-11). Spent this year as the team’s starting left tackle, allowing no sacks and eleven combined hits and hurries as of the conference championship game.

Positives:

Thickly-built lineman who has starting experience at both tackle and guard, and made a smooth transition to the blindside this past season, playing in an offense which has become more gap-based but is still relatively balanced. Solid functional strength makes him effective in a phone booth; not the most explosive player, but has thudding power. Effective wall-off blocker with a stable base, a strong anchor, and a good understanding of positioning. Places his hands pretty accurately and shows very good grip strength and effort to sustain. Generates torque well using his upper body. Able to use his thick build to obstruct opponents on the move, even when not engaging with his hands. Plays with the kind of physical, competitive temperament teams look for in the position; shows nastiness to finish and is capable of putting defenders in the ground when he gets his feet going. Plays with a straight back, adequate knee bend, sufficient width in pass protection; shows pretty good commitment to his form when dealing with speed. Handles power rushes well, dropping an early anchor. Gets good extension and is pretty proactive with his punch.

Negatives:

Build probably resembles a guard a bit more than a tackle, so a slide back inside could be in his future, and measurements might be important. Range is relatively limited. Athleticism is closer to adequate and looks more comfortable blocking in a phone booth than working on the move. Would like to see him be a bit more consistently active with his feet after engaging in order to generate more push. What looks like the consequence of a lack of ideal length occasionally shows up on tape. Doesn’t have the best lateral quickness to get depth in pass protection against speed rushers from wide alignments. Can struggle to deal with more sudden moves, leading to occasional balance issues when protecting the edge.

Summary:

A thick, tough lineman with a nasty temperament, an impressive grip, solid functional strength, and a strong understanding of positioning, but who lacks ideal length and athleticism for a pro tackle. Consequently, although he made an admirable transition to tackle this past year, might be viewed as more of a guard at the next level, where his physical/athletic profile and overall game appear better-suited. A player whose impressive strides in less than two years as a starter will appeal to pro teams, and looks like he could come off the board on the second day, ideally playing in a phone booth for a team that wants to establish a smashmouth identity.
