2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Blake Miller

    Blake Miller (OT – Clemson)

    6-foot-6 | 315 Pounds

    Background

Blake Miller was only the fourth true freshman in the past 50 years to start on Clemson’s offensive line, where he’s been a highly durable right tackle for the past four seasons, notwithstanding a two-game stretch as the team’s left tackle late in the 2024 campaign. He allowed three sacks and 25 combined sacks + hits + pressures (3-25) in 2022, 2-22 in 2023, 1-18 in 2024 and 2-16 in 2025 (through the conference championship game), per Pro Football Focus.

    Positives

Well-built four-year starter at right tackle who’s offered a consistent level of play throughout his collegiate career. Miller is a smart, sound technician whose experience shows up on tape. Gives a solid effort through the snap, and is a bit rangier than anticipated, showing the ability to work up to the second level or wrap around to the left side of the line.

Able to attack the outside shoulder and seal defenders inside. Has a certain thudding power to his game and does a pretty good job of keeping his feet churning after contact to displace opponents. Miller is an effective pass protector with good knee-bend and a stable base, which his discipline and length allow him to maintain when defending against speed off the edge. The team looked very comfortable leaving him on islands when they were throwing the ball.

Miller has an accurate, reasonably active overall punch with solid hand placement and a strong grip; ends plays for defenders when he locks on. Thick lower body allows him to drop an early anchor against power; looks to be at his most comfortable when working against bull-rushers. Keeps his head on a swivel when unopposed, seeking out opponents to block.

    Negatives

Miller has only two starts to his name at left tackle and zero career snaps at guard. As a taller tackle, his pad level can be a bit high, although he compensates with natural lower-body strength. Hasn’t been penalty-prone in recent years, but hand placement is sometimes a bit further outside than you’d like, which limits his ability to control defenders. Would like to see him get those chest straps.

Gets grabby when beat, which could lead to flags at the next level. Generally plays under control but has some slight tendencies to overrun landmarks when blocking on the move. Showed some leaner tendencies when dealing with spinners, causing him to fall off blocks. Can occasionally struggle to restart his feet when he sets, leading to minor issues with rushers who give a strong second effort.

    Summary

The Clemson prospect is a very experienced and technically polished right tackle with impressive size and functional strength. Those traits make him one of the more consistently effective blockers in this year’s class. He may not be one of the sexiest tackle prospects from an athletic perspective, but he’s also a good enough mover to get out in space a bit and to protect the edge with form in the passing game.

Miller looks like a solid, safer Day 2 pick who would most likely continue to play right tackle in the pros, preferably in a system that lets him play in a phone booth more often than not.
