FantasyPros will be taking a look at early NFL Draft scouting reports before the Combine in February. Here’s a look at Duke offensive tackle Brian Parker II.
2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Brian Parker II
Brian Parker II (OT – Duke)
6-foot-5 | 305 Pounds
Background
Brian Parker II played nine snaps in 2022 before starting seven games the following year (five at left tackle, two at right tackle) and allowing one sack and nine combined sacks + hits + pressures (1-9), per Pro Football Focus.
The Duke lineman started 12 games at right tackle and one at left tackle the following year (0-10), and has played exclusively at right tackle this year, with 3-21 on the year.
Positives
Muscularly-built lineman who has over 2.5 years of starts under his belt, with experience at both tackle spots. Parker is a very physical player with an excellent work rate and the desire to finish off opponents. Gives strong effort to execute his assignments and sticks with opponents through the whistle. At his best in a phone booth.
Parker has functional strength, especially given his size; fires out low, maintains a low pad level and keeps his feet churning after contact to generate movement in the run game. Active with his hands and works to reset. Seals well when attacking the outside shoulder. Shows the ability to effectively wall off opponents when blocking on the backside.
Parker’s anchor strength carries over into his pass protection, and is arguably the most impressive aspect of his game there; most comfortable when someone’s coming right at him with a bull-rush. Maintains a solid base through the snap. Has good power in his punch, and can also knock defenders off-balance with his shove to push them past the quarterback. Despite being a smaller tackle, the team often trusted Miller to work on islands.
Negatives
A bit smaller than many of the other top tackles in this year’s class. Height and arm measurements will be important, especially for someone with zero career snaps at guard or center. Would like to see Parker maximize his length a bit more by getting more consistent extension; has some tendencies to throw his body around rather than engaging with technique, leading to glancing blows or whiffs.
Parker could take his foot off the gas pedal a bit more to allow him time to adjust as the play develops. Shows some tendencies to fall off blocks, which could potentially be a length issue. Generally shows solid commitment to his form, but can look a bit lumbering at times when he’s trying to get depth against speed on the edge.
Summary
Despite his relatively extensive starting experience, Parker remains one of the more difficult prospects to evaluate, as he’s been playing tackle throughout his collegiate career but looks more like an interior lineman from a physical standpoint, which is somewhere he didn’t play at Duke.
From a physical, temperamental and athletic standpoint, Parker looks like he has the pad level, explosiveness, strength and nastiness to function effectively on the inside. However, he may take some time to adjust to playing as a guard or center. Looks to be in the Day 2 mix, but probably closer to the end than the beginning of the range. Would be best as a phone-booth mauler.
Projection: Round 3
