2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Cayden Green

Cayden Green (OT – Missouri)

6-foot-5 | 324 Pounds

Background

Cayden Green originally attended Oklahoma, where he started five games at left guard, totaling 568 snaps on the season in 2023 (zero sacks, 12 combined sacks + hits + hurries, or 0-12). Transferred to Missouri the following year, where he started at left guard (1-11) before sliding into the left tackle role this past season, where he impressed with 2-7 on the year.

Positives

Very thickly-built three-year starter for two major programs, with experience at both tackle and guard. For a bigger tackle, Green was asked to execute some challenging blocking assignments in Missouri’s run game, which is a somewhat balanced but primarily zone-based scheme. An effective wall-off blocker whose bulk and strength make him difficult to work around when he lines up opponents.

Green has the power to block down on a defender’s outside shoulder and seal them inside. Overall grip looks good; once he locks on, shows the ability to sustain through the whistle and can generate torque to manipulate opponents. Able to win ugly when he’s on the move, using his thick build as an obstruction to wall off defenders. Shows a straight back and a sufficiently wide base in his pass sets. Overall form looks solid, at least when he doesn’t have to get a ton of depth in his kickslide.

The Missouri product played with patience on an island and avoided overcommitting early in snaps during his collegiate career. Active with his hands and has some power in them. Has a very solid anchor, which he drops early, allowing him to easily hold the point of attack against power rushers.

Negatives

Appears physically and athletically closer to a guard than a tackle. Green was asked to execute some blocks in space/on the move, but doesn’t have a ton of range, either from the perspective of mobility or of stamina/effort. Could be more consistent about engaging with form when playing in space; seems too content to throw a shoulder or use his body as an obstruction.

Green’s pad level tends to be on the high side, which can limit the amount of push he generates in the run game. Doesn’t finish as many plays as you’d like; can often be seen standing around before the whistle. His overall work rate needs to improve. Can struggle to maintain his pass-set form when dealing with outside rushers from wide alignments. Would like to see his hand placement inside become more consistent; it can be a catch-and-ride type at times.

Summary

A thickly-built, naturally strong offensive lineman who has experience at both guard and tackle, showing impressive functional strength, solid form in his pass sets and an easy anchor against power. Green put together a surprisingly effective season on the blindside this season despite his lack of ideal lateral quickness/mobility.

However, Green looks more suited to shifting back inside to guard, as he’s at his most effective when playing in a phone booth, which would mask some of his athletic limitations. Physical tools and pedigree should get him looks in the early portion of Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft.
