Fantasy Football Injury Updates
Quarterback
Gardner Minshew (QB – KC)
Like Patrick Mahomes the week before, Minshew also tore his ACL. Now, it’ll be second-year man Chris Oladokun for Weeks 17 and 18 against the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders, respectively.
This miserable season is almost over for the Chiefs.
Jordan Love (QB – GB)
Love left the Packers’ loss to the Chicago Bears on Saturday early with a concussion.
In relief, Malik Willis completed 9 of 11 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown.
The Packers hope to have Love back in time for next Saturday’s home game against the Baltimore Ravens, with their playoff lives on the line.
If Willis starts, this will massively impact all Packers’ pass catchers.
J.J. McCarthy (QB – MIN)
McCarthy injured his throwing hand on a sack against the New York Giants.
At this point in the season, getting extra reps for McCarthy is still valuable, so it is unlikely he sits out, even since they’re out of the playoffs.
McCarthy would have a fantasy-friendly matchup next week at home against the Detroit Lions if he plays.
If not, it’s Max Brosmer.
Lamar Jackson (QB – BAL)
Jackson went to the locker room just before halftime with a back injury and was ruled out.
There’s a chance we could see Willis vs. Tyler Huntley in Week 17 with both team’s playoff hopes on the line.
Marcus Mariota (QB – WAS)
Mariota suffered injuries to his quad and hand in the Commanders’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday.
If he’s unable to go, it’ll be the veteran journeyman Josh Johnson against the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Day.
Running Back
Quinshon Judkins (RB – CLE)
Judkins suffered a serious leg injury, including his ankle and knee. He’s out for the season and may miss time at the start of next season.
When Judkins hasn’t been on the field, fellow rookie running back Dylan Sampson has received 60.9% the Browns’ running back carries.
He would be next in line if he plays. He missed Week 16.
In the event Sampson is also out, expect a platoon of Raheim Sanders and Trayveon Williams, with Sanders getting the carries and Williams working as the receiving back.
Kimani Vidal (RB – LAC)
Vidal left the Chargers’ win over the Dallas Cowboys early with a neck injury. He had five touches before the injury. Either way, with Omarion Hampton back, his value is almost zero.
Jordan Mason (RB – MIN)
Mason left the Vikings game against the Giants early with an ankle injury.
Actually, at one point, both he and Aaron Jones left (both with ankle injuries), and while Jones returned, Mason did not.
If Mason misses time, Zavier Scott will back up Jones.
Wide Receiver
Pat Bryant (WR – DEN)
Bryant suffered a serious injury in the Broncos’ loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to beat writer Mike Klis, Bryant showed his hand movement in his hands and legs after being stretchered off the field.
It’s safe to say Bryant isn’t playing on Christmas Day, but I’d be worried he could be shut down for the season with how severe the injury was.
Calvin Austin (WR – PIT)
Austin suffered a hamstring injury in the Steelers’ road win over the Detroit Lions.
He’s third on the team in target share at just 10.9%, so his value is quite limited fantasy-wise.
