2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Denzel Boston

Denzel Boston (WR – Washington)

6-foot-4 | 209 Pounds

Background

Denzel Boston is a Washington native and three-star recruit who spent the first two years of his collegiate career playing sparingly (seven total catches) behind Rome Odunze, Jalen McMillan and Ja’Lynn Polk before taking over a starting role in 2024 and posting a 63-834-9 (13.2) line.

Enjoyed a similar 2025 season of 62-881-11 (14.2) to conclude his collegiate career.

Positives

Boston is a big, strong split end who really looks the part and has two seasons of solid production under his belt. Works through contact and hand-fighting effectively, showing the ability to release at the line of scrimmage against physical press coverage or stay on track with his route. Runs a pretty solid route tree, consisting primarily of clearing routes, back-shoulders, curls overs/crossers, slants and tunnel screens.

Flattens/carves his slants and in-breaking routes to prevent turnovers. Does a good job of getting inside leverage on inside releases down the field. Has a strong pair of hands, with only five career drops. A big target who plucks the ball away from his frame. Tracks the ball well over his shoulder. Adjusts well and presented his quarterback with a nice target on back-shoulder throws.

Does a nice job of using his size to box out opponents and shield them from the football. Fights for yardage after the catch and generally does a good job of falling forward at the end of his runs. Caught over 60% of his career contested catches. Gets upfield quickly after the catch, with pretty good physicality to break tackles and fight for yards. Shows good competitiveness and functional strength as a blocker.

Negatives

Boston doesn’t have the most diverse release package. Long strider with solid speed, but not a true burner. Can struggle to stack opponents on outside release routes down the sidelines; ran deep primarily to clear defenders or to create opportunities for his underneath work.

Might struggle to create consistent windows against man coverage out of his breaks; smoother than he is explosive. No-nonsense approach is nice, but won’t make too many defenders miss after the catch.

Summary

A big, strong split end who plays the game with toughness, presenting his quarterback with a big, reliable target that can come down with contested catches, and who also blocks well on runs/screens.

Boston may have to lean on that contested-catching ability a bit more than you’d like, as he’s not the most sudden or explosive receiver off the line or at the route stem, but similar prospects have had success with this type of game in recent years. Consequently, looks to be in the first-round mix at this point.
