2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Jordyn Tyson
Jordyn Tyson (WR – Arizona State)
6’2″ – 200 lbs.
Background
Three-star recruit who originally attended Colorado, where he led the team in receiving with a 22-470-4 (21.4) line. Redshirted the following season while transferring, then posted an impressive 75-1,101-10 (14.7) line in his first year with the Sun Devils, before posting 61-711-8 (11.7) this past year.
Positives
Productive three-year contributor between two different programs. A bit of a chess piece; lines up both outside and inside, and the team would also send him in pre-snap motion pretty frequently (in the slot on roughly a third of his career touches.) Runs a fairly wide variety of routes to different levels of the field; screens, hitches, curls, slants, hooks, fades, and deep routes. Explosive off the line; legitimate deep threat with the ability to quickly eat up cushions and threaten defenses downfield. Knows how to use pacing to release at the line of scrimmage against press coverage, and creates excellent throwing lanes with his suddenness in short-yardage/goal-line situations. Works back to the football when running digs/curls and patterns of that nature, and effectively finds soft spots against zone. Very fluid at the stem and sets up his routes well with head fakes to freeze defenders; doesn’t need to gear down much into breaks, with good burst once he plants his foot. Has a much bigger presence as a vertical threat than his size would suggest because of his impressive leaping skills and aggressive high-pointing. Acrobatic, with excellent body control to adjust to throws away from his frame. Uses his body well to shield defenders from the ball. Dropped just one pass in 2025. Good quickness as a runner, with a pretty decisive style and the leg drive to fight for yardage after contact; weaves through traffic well and can produce chunk/splash plays when he finds a crease in the screen game. Shows good form and competitiveness as a blocker, bringing some physicality.
Negatives
Limited by injury to just nine games this past season. Frame is closer to adequate and might struggle to get off the line at times against bigger, more physical pro cornerbacks; routes can also be disrupted at the stem by physical opponents. Production was somewhat padded by a relatively high volume of manufactured touches on screens. Was a lot more reliable this season, but dropped a combined twelve passes over the 2022 and 2024 seasons. Makes difficult adjustments look easy, but ability to come down with catches in traffic or through contact isn’t quite as impressive. More competitive than powerful as a runner after the catch.
Summary
A relatively long-limbed receiver with impressive route-running skills, legitimate deep speed, and excellent leaping/body control which allow him to make acrobatic catches away from his frame, it’s easy to see why he is receiving hype as a potential number-one receiver. Perhaps not the sturdiest or most physical option, but shows good competitiveness, especially as a blocker. Appears poised to be one of the first receivers off the board on Draft Day.
Projection: Round 1
