2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report: KC Concepcion
KC Concepcion (WR – Texas A&M)
5-foot-11 | 190 Pounds
Background
KC Concepcion was a former four-star recruit. Began his career at North Carolina State, where he burst onto the scene with an impressive 71-839-10 (11.8) line, adding 41 carries for 320 yards as a rusher as well.
Went 53-460-6 (8.7) the following year before transferring to Texas A&M. Won the Paul Hornung Award this past season for his versatility, finishing with 61-919-9 (15.1) and adding two punt return touchdowns.
Positives
Productive three-year starter for two different programs, with experience both inside and outside (took nearly two-thirds of his snaps out wide this past season after playing in the slot in 2023 and 2024). Shows good burst and acceleration off the line of scrimmage. Has an understanding of how pace changes can help freeze defenders. Uses his hands well to work through contact, with good balance through his routes.
Sinks his hips well into the route stem and, by virtue of his low center of gravity, doesn’t need to gear down much, showing good explosiveness coming through his breaks. Was primarily being fed the ball on shorter routes, but shows the ability to stack defenders and create opportunities for throws downfield, with good deep speed. Finds and settles into soft spots in zone coverage. Adjusts well to off-target throws, with good body control.
Concepcion is a very dynamic runner after the catch who shows impressive vision, can make defenders miss in a phone booth and shows good competitiveness to finish his rushes. His role as a rusher hasn’t been as prominent recently, but received a lot of carries as a freshman. Gives pretty good effort when stalking opponents in the run game, with a physical temperament and better functional strength than expected. Has additional value as a return specialist.
Negatives
Overall size is closer to average. Might be projected to return to the slot at the next level. Runs routes to all three levels of the field, but is primarily working within 10 yards or so of the line of scrimmage.
Concepcion doesn’t present the biggest target for quarterbacks. Hasn’t been the most reliable receiver, having dropped 19 passes against 186 career catches. Can struggle to box out opposing defenders due to his smaller frame. Positioning and patience as a blocker could use work. Overruns some of his spots.
Summary
One of the faster, more dynamic receivers in this year’s class, Concepcion can line up both inside or outside, showing impressive burst and explosiveness as a route-runner to create separation, with excellent run-after-catch skills.
While he may not be the biggest option in the class, Concepcion brings a physicality to the position that makes him more effective against physical opponents than his size would suggest. Those traits should get him some consideration early in the draft, perhaps even later in the first round.
Projection: Round 1/Round 2
