2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Keionte Scott

Keionte Scott (CB – Miami)

6’0″ – 194 lbs.

Background

Originally attended small-school Snow College, playing there for a year before transferring to Auburn. Started in the slot for the Tigers in 2022, recording 53 tackles, four breakups, and an interception, then 44 tackles and five breakups in 2023. Lost his starting role three games into the 2024 season (18 tackles on the year), then transferred to Houston and then Miami, where he ended up playing in 2025. Started in the slot once again, with 64-13.0-5.0, five breakups, and two interceptions, both returned for touchdowns.

Positives

Was a productive slot starter for two major programs, with good size for that role. Plays a lot of off-coverage, but is fairly versatile in that the team uses him as a box player and even blitzer pretty often. Plays with a physical, high-intensity temperament, flying around the field with very impressive speed and explosiveness. Has quick feet, with the athleticism to backpedal to depth and keep things in front of him when playing off-coverage. Has twitchy traits and makes snappy transitions from his backpedal to driving on a spot. Does a good job of getting his head around to locate when his back is to the ball, and shows good flexibility to go for the breakup. Has shown himself to be a dynamic player with the ball in his hands, running back two interceptions for touchdowns this past year. Shows a quick trigger to play downhill in the run game and when defending screens, attacking blocks with some aggression. Has very good flexibility and lateral quickness to work through trash to the ball. Closes quickly in backside pursuit. Offers a strong motor throughout the snap.

Negatives

Doesn’t have many in-game snaps on the outside. Would like to see him show a bit more patience when diagnosing to limit false steps, of which there are a fair amount on tape, both in the run game and in coverage; somewhat reliant on his excellent recovery burst and length to get back in-phase. Occasionally plays a bit too close to the line when working in zone coverage, letting receivers get behind him. Can struggle with contact balance when working against physical opponents, showing average functional strength. Tackling has been inconsistent throughout his career; doesn’t always put his body into it, lacks stopping power, and can fly in too fast without breaking down.

Summary

An energetic, aggressive, and physical slot cornerback who flies around the field and loves to play downhill, either as a blitzer or run supporter. It’s easy to appreciate his hair-on-fire temperament, but that can occasionally get him into some trouble when he plays too fast, leading to false steps or route-runners outside his field of vision. Has been getting some second-round hype, but it shouldn’t come as a big surprise if he slips a little further than that, being a fairly unique prospect in terms of his overall usage.

Projection: Round 2-3
