2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Le’Veon Moss
Le’Veon Moss (RB – Texas A&M)
5’11” – 210 lbs.
Background
Four-star recruit who played sparingly as a freshman before becoming a more regular part of the running back rotation in 2023, finishing with 96-484-5 (5.0). Took over the starting role in 2024, but season ended nine games in when he tore his ACL and MCL; finished the year with 121-765-10 (6.3). Was limited to seven games (all starts) in 2025 due to an ankle injury, finishing with 77-404-6 (5.2).
Positives
Thickly-built back who has always been effective when on the field against SEC competition, playing in an offense well-balanced between gap and zone concepts. Has a naturally low center of gravity and runs with good knee-bend. Decisive runner who wastes little time getting upfield and is at his best when pounding the ball between the tackles. Does a nice job of using his hands to follow blockers through creases. Shows good vision and lateral quickness to recognize and shuffle into cutback lanes. Has the juice to outrun defenders to the edges, and can successfully bounce runs outside when the hole isn’t there on inside concepts. Smooth accelerator with very good top-end speed when he finds a lane, and easily runs through arm tackles when he gets going. Shows good competitiveness and lower-body strength to drive his legs and finish runs, consistently burrowing ahead and falling forward. Wears down defenders over the course of the game. Ball security is solid, with just two fumbles against 321 career receptions. Flashes good suddenness as a route-runner out of the backfield.
Negatives
Durability is a major concern after sustaining serious knee injuries in 2024 and an ankle injury in 2025; never made it through a season as the lead back in school. Has more of a thudding power than an explosive one. Not the most creative or elusive back. Occasionally lets his pad level rise, subjecting his body to big hits. Has never been a major part of the team’s passing game, with just 23 career receptions, and has been credited with five drops there as well. Struggled with pass protection throughout his career; late to process rushers, and doesn’t hold the point as well as you’d think given his squat frame.
Summary
One of the more talented, natural, and powerful runners in this year’s class, he plays with decisiveness, wearing down defenses with his power over the course of the game and possessing the speed to hit home-runs when he finds a lane. However, he was never able to stay healthy in school, and hasn’t shown much value on passing downs, either as a blocker or as a receiver. Looks like a nice late-rounder flier who would likely be going higher had he been able to stay on the field, and could end up as a rotational power back and short-yardage/goal line rusher, likely on a scheme based primarily around inside runs.
