2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Lewis Bond
Lewis Bond (WR – Boston College)
5-foot-11 | 190 Pounds
Background
Three-star recruit who played sparingly in his first two seasons, redshirting once, before stepping into a starting role in 2023. Career has been split pretty evenly between the slot and the outside, catching 52-646-7 (12.4) in 2023, 67-689-3 (10.3) in 2024, and 88-993-1 (11.3) this past season. Concluded his career as the Eagles’ all-time receptions leader.
Positives
Highly productive, high-volume three-year starter who has extensive experience both inside and outside, spending the past two seasons in former pro coach Bill O’Brien’s offense. Smart player who was also recruited by Harvard and Princeton out of high school. Pretty quick receiver who shows clean footwork and balance as a route-runner. Makes slight adjustments to create easier throws against zone. Carves his routes back toward the quarterback to keep defenders from working their way into the picture. Very reliable hands-catcher who only dropped ten passes over his career, against 213 total receptions. Shows good acceleration and does a pretty nice job of finding pockets of space as a runner after the catch, and the team tried to scheme him touches with room to work. Despite his smaller frame, he has caught over two-thirds of his career contested catches and shows good toughness and focus when working over the middle of the field and through contact. Shows good effort and competitiveness as a stalker, and does a good job of consistently pestering and sticking with opponents through the whistle.
Negatives
Size is on the small side for an outside receiver, so he might be projected primarily as a slot by some teams. Might struggle to release at the line of scrimmage against more physical press cornerbacks. Worked primarily within ten yards of the line of scrimmage underneath zone coverages, with a lot of hitches, drags, screens, and short patterns of that nature, rather than winning against man coverage. Burst off the line of scrimmage and overall speed are closer to adequate. Could snap off some of his routes a bit sharper. Doesn’t really survive contact as a runner. More competitive than powerful as a blocker, and can occasionally struggle to successfully engage because of a lack of ideal length.
Summary
A reliable receiver with plenty of experience both inside and outside, he offers good quickness, smart adjustments against zone, and a very safe pair of hands, traits that made him a highly productive player over the past three years. While he doesn’t have ideal physical or athletic tools, should be able to work underneath pro defenses as a pretty nice volume target out of the slot. A nice sleeper who looks like he might be going a little later than he should, as he didn’t receive a Combine invite, but it’d still be surprising if he didn’t hear his name called on draft day.
Projection: Round 5-6
