2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Logan Jones

Logan Jones (OC – Iowa)

6’3″ – 302 lbs.

Background

Council Bluffs native and three-star recruit who was originally recruit as a defensive tackle, redshirting in 2020 and then missing all but one game the following year with a knee injury. Converted to center as an injury replacement in 2022 and has started there for each of the past four seasons, allowing two sacks, six hits, and sixteen hurries in 2022 (2-6-16), 2-1-15 in 2023, 0-1-4 in 2024, and 1-0-2 in 2025, winning the Rimington Award in his final season.

Positives

Despite only converting to center in 2022, managed to start four years there for one of the premier offensive line factories in the country, culminating in the Rimington Award this past year. Has a reasonably thick build for a pro center, and has added some weight in recent years. Versatile, rangy center with very good athleticism to pull in the run/screen games. Has the short-area quickness to cross a defender’s face and wall them off from the play, showing a strong understanding of positioning. Able to chip and climb to the second level, with impressive wheels and very good angles to successfully engage. Works very well on double-teams. Naturally low center of gravity gives him good leverage. Does an excellent job of keeping his feet churning after contact to generate push in the run game, and consistently works through the whistle, with a strong grip to sustain. Plays with a killer instinct to finish off opponents when he gets the chance. Shows a stable base with good knee bend and balance in pass protection. Very active with his hands in pass protection and does a nice job of resetting. Was not flagged in 2025, and hasn’t been penalty-prone in previous years, either.

Negatives

Height and length appear to be closer to average. More physical than functionally strong; wins because of technique and intensity, rather than overpowering opponents with raw strength, although he’s been developing his power. May need to be aggressive in his pass sets to hold up against bigger, more powerful bull-rushers. Hasn’t taken snaps at any other positions along the offensive line. Season-ending 2021 knee injury could get some closer looks during the pre-draft process.

Summary

A four-year starter from one of the best college programs in the country, with every bit of the intelligence, technique, and versatility their offensive linemen are known for. As an excellent athlete, he’s able to execute all kinds of different run assignments, and is more effective in a phone booth than his size may suggest because of his natural leverage, grip strength, and leg churn. While he might not have elite length and natural power, it’s easy to imagine him stepping right into a starting center job, so he should get second-day looks as one of the safest linemen in the class.
