FantasyPros will be taking a look at early NFL Draft scouting reports before the Combine in February. Here’s a look at Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss.
Editor’s Note: Chambliss will return to college in 2026 and likely enter the 2027 NFL Draft class.
NEWS: Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss has been granted a sixth season of eligibility by a state court judge in Mississippi. Chambliss received an injunction today, which paves the way for him to play in 2026 after the NCAA ruled he was eligibility. (The NCAA can appeal.) pic.twitter.com/nzeaak6uMq

2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Trinidad Chambliss
Trinidad Chambliss (QB – Ole Miss)
6-foot-1 | 200 Pounds
Background
Trinidad Chambliss originally attended Division II Ferris State, where he redshirted in 2021 and did not appear in a game in 2022 before starting one game in 2023. Took over the starting role and led the team to a 14-1 record in 2024, with 2,925 yards (61.6% completition rate, 8.0 yards per attempt), 26 touchdowns and six interceptions. while adding a monster 171-1,019-25 rushing line.
Transferred to Ole Miss this past season and led the team to the College Football Playoff, with an 11-2 record as the starter. Finished with 3,937 yards passing (66.1% completition rate, 8.8 yards per attempt), 22 touchdowns, three interceptions and 133-527-8 on the ground.
Positives
Transferred from Division II to the SEC and immediately put together an elite season in Lane Kiffin’s offense, which features a high tempo, plenty of package plays and spread formations. A fundamentally sound passer who shows clean footwork on his dropbacks, without a heel click. Shows good composure and awareness in the pocket. Able to change arm angles as needed.
Chambliss throws a tight spiral and catchable ball with plus touch. Accurate, particularly at the short and intermediate levels, facilitating yards after the catch, and can drive the ball pretty well within 20 yards, especially over the middle of the field. On the smaller side, but still attacks the middle of the field. Flashes anticipation, especially on deep throws.
Very quick. Elusive. Excellent at escaping pressure, whether through pocket movement or scrambling to extend the play. Does a good job of keeping his eyes downfield. Throws accurately while rolling out to either side. Has been used extensively as a runner on package plays and designed runs, such as draws. Not elite in terms of raw speed, but has impressive vision, creativity and agility.
Negatives
Small for a pro quarterback, and measurements will be important. Only 13 of his 29 starts came against FBS competition. Is a bit older than most quarterback prospects after spending five years in school. Many of his throws come on first reads. Doesn’t have the most experience working through progressions, with bird-dogging tendencies.
Don’t confuse Kiffin’s pro background with the complexity of the Rebels’ offense (or lack thereof). Arm talent is adequate but not elite as a deep thrower. Relies more on anticipation and moon balls downfield. It’s fair to wonder how well Chambliss will hold up physically, as a smaller-framed quarterback who regularly runs with the ball.
Summary
A fundamentally sound quarterback with impressive touch and accuracy, especially at the short and intermediate levels, and who can create with his mobility, either by extending plays or on designed runs/package plays.
Chambliss has proven his ability to execute on schedule, but it’s difficult to get a read on him because of the simplicity of the Ole Miss offense this year, which didn’t ask him to go through many progressions. That makes him a bit of a projection-based prospect, and his stock may depend to a significant extent on pre-draft interviews/board work.
