With the 2026 NFL Draft approaching and the 2025-26 season coming to a close, it’s time to start pondering draft-related questions about what teams will do, the depth at certain positions, and more. Let’s dive into four burning questions and their potential ramifications on fantasy football.
NFL Draft Burning Questions: Fantasy Football
When Will the QB2 Be Drafted?
Let’s be honest, we all know that the Las Vegas Raiders are going to select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 pick in the draft. He’s coming off a Heisman Trophy win and a College Football National Championship, and he’s joining a team with a new head coach, Klint Kubiak, that will fit him well.
But after him, where does the next quarterback go?
Not only that, but who is the QB2?
Some of the top names include Alabama’s Ty Simpson, LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier, Ole Miss’s Trinidad Chambliss, and Miami’s Carson Beck.
The go-to player is Simpson, but he came off a fractured rib, a lower back injury, elbow bursitis, and more last season.
Playing an SEC schedule, Simpson completed 64.6% of his passes for 3,561 yards, 28 touchdowns, and five picks. However, he didn’t play well at all against Georgia or Indiana in his final two games of the season.
Some possible landing spots for him in the first round could be No. 16 overall to the New York Jets, No. 21 to the Pittsburgh Steelers, No. 24 to the Cleveland Browns, or perhaps even No. 29 to the Los Angeles Rams.
Given the need for quarterbacks, the QB2, whom I’d declare is Simpson, will likely go somewhere in the first round, even if I have questions about whether he’d be ready to go with fewer than 20 starts in his college career.
Where Will Caleb Banks Be Drafted?
While we haven’t had the NFL Scouting Combine yet, I feel confident in saying that Florida defensive tackle Caleb Banks is going to test extremely well. He has long arms and stands about 6-foot-6 and about 330 pounds.
He logged just 96 snaps last season, though, after dealing with an injury.
However, he stood out at the Senior Bowl, and the buzz is re-emerging. While he did suffer an injury, he returned for Weeks 13 and 14, was at the Senior Bowl, and will have a chance to stand out at the NFL Scouting Combine as well.
Mark my words: He’ll be a first-round draft pick.
When Will Jeremiyah Love Be Drafted?
In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Raiders selected Ashton Jeanty No. 6 overall. Before that, there had only been two other running backs, Bijan Robinson and Saquon Barkley, to go inside the top 10 since 2017.
Love will be another, but where exactly?
The two landing spots that immediately stand out are the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs at No. 8 and No. 9 overall.
The Saints need more weapons around Tyler Shough, especially as Alvin Kamara ages. We’ve seen it before when they drafted him and paired him with Mark Ingram.
As for the Chiefs, their running game was abysmal last season, and he would provide an immediate upgrade.
I don’t expect Love to make it past No. 10 overall.
Is This A Strong Wide Receiver Draft?
Overall, I’d say yes, but with a caveat: I don’t think the elite top-level talent is there like in some previous years. That said, Jordyn Tyson, Carnell Tate, Makai Lemon, and even others like Chris Bell will all be productive at the next level.
There are some questions for each player, though, as there are for all players each year: Tyson’s health, Tate’s ceiling, Lemon’s size, and Bell’s injury history.
That said, I’d feel comfortable taking any of those players throughout Round 1, and Lemon and Bell are two of my favorites.
