Former Falcons RB Tyler Allgeier is signing a two-year, $12.25 million deal with the Arizona Cardinals, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Fantasy Football Impact | Cardinals Sign Tyler Allgeier
A fifth-round draft pick out of BYU in 2022, Allgeier ran for 1,035 yards as a rookie with the Falcons, then spent the next three years in a complementary role after Atlanta selected RB Bijan Robinson with the eighth overall pick of the 2023 draft.
In fact, investors in Bijan were dismayed by the size of Allgeier’s role. Allgeier has averaged 9.1 carries a game over the last three seasons and had a career-high eight TD runs in 2025.
Allgeier figures to have an even more substantial role in Arizona this season, although it would be premature to call him the Cardinals’ lead back. Arizona still has RBs James Conner and Trey Benson on the roster.
The Cardinals recently restructured Conner’s contract, which has one year remaining. The 30-year-old Conner had 1,000-yard rushing seasons for Arizona in 2023 and 2024, but he sustained a season-ending foot injury in Week 3 of 2025.
Benson, a third-round pick in 2024, has two years left on his rookie deal. A meniscus injury limited Benson to four games last season, and he’s missed 17 games during his two seasons in the Arizona desert.
Allgeier averaged 3.6 yards per carry last season, well below his career average of 4.3 YPC. He’s averaged 3.27 yards after contact per attempt for his career, but Allgeier averaged a career-low 2.92 yards after contact per attempt last season.
The 5-10, 225-pound Allgeier does his best work as an inside runner, and he’s been very effective in short-yardage and goal-line situations. He’s been extremely surehanded, with zero fumbles in 67 NFL games. Allgeier has only missed one game in four seasons.
But Allgeier isn’t explosive, and he doesn’t add much as a pass catcher, with only 61 receptions in four years.
Allgeier’s new contract suggests that he’ll have a key role in the Arizona backfield, but he isn’t likely to be a workhorse.
I’m tentatively ranking Allgeier RB34 in redraft leagues, with Conner slotting in at RB43 and Benson at RB56.
In dynasty, I have Allgeier ranked RB35 as he enters his age-26 season.
