After admitting to gambling indiscretions in college, completing an in-patient rehab stint, and a highly publicized legal battle with the NCAA, Brendan Sorsby will now enter the NFL supplemental draft. Before we get to the fantasy football and dynasty fantasy football implications, we need to discuss Sorsby as a prospect, so I dove into the all-22 film and his analytics to help fantasy gamers understand the athletic profile and game of a now polarizing prospect. Enjoy.

Scouting Report:
- Brendan Sorsby has easy flick-of-the-wrist arm strength. He can make every throw needed of an NFL starting quarterback. The former collegiate gunslinger has an easy, repeatable quick release with the ability to throw from multiple arm angles.
- Sorsby’s ball placement and accuracy are erratic at best. He’s at his best getting the ball out quickly, peppering the short and intermediate areas of the field when his back foot hits the ground. His accuracy can escape him, though. He’ll airmail the occasional checkdown. Sorsby’s ball placement is lacking on crossing routes at times and against zone coverage, which can limit his receiver’s YAC ability. There are plenty of throws littering his film where he doesn’t hit his receivers in stride or will tie his receivers in knots as they attempt to adjust to poorly thrown seam balls aimed at the wrong shoulder.
- His deep ball accuracy and ball placement can be a struggle at times. When he’s dialed in, he can put some beautiful throws on tape and thread a needle, but it’s not consistent enough. His receivers are left waiting on deep targets far too often, or he’ll overthrow them.
- Sorsby wasn’t tasked with consistent half or full-field reads. Most of his passing plays were first read or get-to-your-checkdown heavy. Even with this being the case, Sorsby’s trigger can be a tick slow at times. He’ll pump or pat the ball at times when you’re waiting for him to dial up the aggression and get the ball out quickly or drive it into tight quarters. There are moments where he does get to his third option for a passing play or checkdown with good pacing, but they are rare. There are too many times when watching his film you’ll see him attempt to fit the ball to a receiver when they are double covered with other receivers running wide open.
- The former Cincy Bearcat has solid pocket presence. He doesn’t get spooked by pressure. You’ll see him stand in the face of incoming rushers to deliver a strike to his receiver regularly. He will also bail the occasional clean pocket if his receivers are covered up to make something happen off script. Overall, his pocket presence is solid and surprisingly steady.
- Sorsby’s mobility comes in handy. He has the ability to buy time from the pocket and can extend plays when needed. His accuracy actually looks better when he’s on the move, oddly.
- Sorsby is a mobile quarterback that can be an asset to the ground game in the NFL. He’s not an electric playmaker in the open field with the ball in his hands, but he has (high) 4.5/4.6 speed. He’s more of a straight-line runner in the mold of Jaxson Dart or Bo Nix. He’s patient in the open field, waiting for his blocks to develop, with the size to be a goal-line option. Across his final two collegiate seasons, he averaged 102.5 rushing attempts, 513.5 rushing yards, and nine rushing scores.
Player Comp: Drew Lock with better wheels
Dynasty Outlook: We’ll have to see where Sorsby lands in the supplemental draft and what his path to playing time for 2026 and beyond looks like, but I’m not looking to overspend on him in rookie draft picks or with FAAB. There are a ton of different ways for dynasty commissioners to handle this ranging from having a blind rookie pick bidding system or by simply putting him in the 2027 rookie draft player pool. His NFL outlook is cloudy, and I’m not overly in love with his profile as a passer that would push me to attempt to add him in every dynasty league with reckless abandon. I understand if people want to take the swing here with a future second-round rookie pick but I wouldn’t go any higher than that and I would personally be bidding thirds which I know likely won’t get me any exposure to Sorsby. I’m more open to a Fantasy GM emptying the FAAB clip to get Sorsby even if it is to just put him on the trade block and attempt to get a 2027 or 2028 second round rookie pick back in a trade.
