Fantasy Football Player Notes: Kickers

Last year, Ka’imi Fairbairn was the K1 in fantasy points per game. He could easily repeat this feat in 2026. Last year, he was 23rd in extra point attempts, but he was tied for the league lead with 48 field goal attempts. I could see each of those numbers evening out some, but Houston’s stellar defense will create plenty of short fields for Fairbairn to have field goal attempts. Last year, he was eighth in field goal % made.

Eddy Pineiro is an awesome fantasy option at kicker. Last year, he was second-best in field goal made % and he should have plenty of opportunities for field goals and extra points this season if the 49ers can keep their skill players healthy. Last year, Pineiro was the K6 in fantasy points per game.
– Derek Brown

After converting only 72.7% of his field goal attempts in 2024, five-year veteran Evan McPherson had a career-best 89.3% FG accuracy rate in 2025, hitting 25-of-28 attempts. McPherson finished 14th among kickers in fantasy scoring last year and hasn’t finished in the top 10 since his 2021 rookie season. But if Bengals QB Joe Burrow, who missed nine games last season, enjoys a season of good health, McPherson should have his fair share of FG and PAT opportunities.
– Pat Fitzmaurice

Native Venezuelan Andres “Andy” Borregales tied for 15th in fantasy scoring as a rookie, making 27-of-32 field goals and 53-of-55 extra points. The Patriots should once again have a solid offense, with young star QB Drake Maye at quarterback and new arrival AJ Brown upgrading New England’s WR corps. Borregales finished second in extra-point attempts last year behind only Jake Bates. The Patriots will have a tougher schedule in 2026 than they had in 2025 and if Borregales has fewer extra points and more field goals this season, he could crack the top 10 in fantasy scoring at the position.
– Pat Fitzmaurice

Charlie Smyth is a wonderful flier to take at kicker that could pay off handsomely this year. He was the K6 in fantasy points per game. Sadly, he is in a competition for the starting job in camp, but he could be a big-time winner for fantasy purposes if he nails down the job. Last year, among 37 qualifying kickers, he was 34th in field goal % made, but he was four of six from 50 yards or more. With the Saints’ offense exploding down the stretch, Smyth was attempting 2.6 field goals per game, which over an entire season would have amounted to 45 field goals, which would have been third-most in the NFL.
