What is IDP Fantasy Football?
IDP fantasy football, short for Individual Defensive Player fantasy football, is a format where managers draft and start defensive players individually instead of using a single team defense/special teams (D/ST) unit. In IDP leagues, players score fantasy points for stats like tackles, sacks, interceptions, forced fumbles, and passes defended, making linebackers, defensive linemen, and defensive backs valuable assets. This format adds a deeper layer of strategy compared to traditional fantasy football because managers must evaluate defensive player production, matchups, and positional value throughout the NFL season. IDP fantasy football leagues are especially popular among experienced fantasy football players looking for a more immersive and realistic experience.
