Notes
In a category-based leagues, don't overthink it - even in a shortened season. You're taking Acuña first overall. The only concern is the high strikeout rate, but you can still bank on a .285 average with 15 homers and nearly 15 steals in the shortened season. He's going to hold down the top spot for years to come.
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
Jeter Downs. Alex Verdugo. Betts will be tied to these players moving forward, and he has 60 games to show the Dodgers and the Dodger faithful that he was worth it. Betts could be the top player in fantasy by season's end, and it shouldn't surprise you.
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
We knew Acuna would develop into an elite fantasy option one day, but few saw it happening this quickly. He combined power (41 homers), speed (37 stolen bases), and his spot batting atop an outstanding lineup (127 runs, 101 RBI) to put up one of the all-around great seasons. He'll stick in the leadoff spot this year, which should ensure that he continues to run early and often, and there's little reason to expect his numbers to dip much from last year. In points leagues, where his strikeout rate is a bit of a negative, his stock falls just a tad, but otherwise, no one would fault you if you made him the top pick in the draft.
Dan Harris - FantasyPros
After weeks of rumors, Betts was finally traded to the Dodgers, but the move shouldn't impact his value much. His plate appearances and home runs, because of the less hitter-friendly parks in his new division, may downgrade his numbers ever so slightly. But Betts has essentially averaged a .305-120-30-95-25 line over his past four seasons. Even with a minor drop, he'll still earn his top-five draft position.
Dan Harris - FantasyPros
Acuna went 41/37 in homers/steals last season as a sophomore but the batting average is likely going to be 20-30 points below Trout and the homers may end up 10 behind. Most are taking Acuna first anyways because of the difference in steals and frankly, you can't go wrong with either.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Mookie's batting average dipped 50 points from the year prior and he stole 14 fewer bases despite an extra 15 games played. With that said, his 2018 performance shows he has the upside to finish as the #1 fantasy player. As it is, the choice at #4 and #5 is between he and his teammate, Cody Bellinger.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
I wrote in 2019 that Acuna was being under drafted. This season I am seeing regression (in stolen bases specifically) that won't much matter to his overall ADP with one exception, he is my #2 rather than first overall, even though he has more potential to be the best statistical performer in 2020. Draft him 1.1 if you want, but Trout is the safer top pick. Can't go wrong with either choice.
Chris Mitchell - FantasyData
Betts looks like a very safe, conservative 25/25 2020 OF in LAD. Leaving Fenway Park won't be a huge hit to the HR totals, if at all. Betts could be statistically better than Story/Lindor and Turner but it's a close call. Take the SS' ahead of the OF and go with the SB potential of Turner before Betts.
