The Dodgers acquired Howie Kendrick to fill the hole that was created by trading Dee Gordon to Miami. For Kendrick, the Dodgers gave up rising pitcher Andrew Heaney who they had just acquired from Miami for Dee Gordon. Kendrick only has one more year on his contract but if the Dodgers want to, they should be able to lock him up for more given their huge bankroll. The Dodgers also have Alex Guerrero who they called up from AAA to fill in as needed. (Sports Illustrated)

Howie Kendrick's veteran leadership should prove essential for the Dodger's World Series hopes. So even though Dee Gordon showed plenty of promise last year especially with his defense, the Dodgers essentially upgraded their 2B for close to nothing.
