Betts still has two years left before reaching free agency and has turned down extension offers in the past. However, Cafardo writes the Sox could soon make him an offer he can’t refuse. Betts is arguably the best player in baseball right now and would obviously command an enormous, record setting contract. Manager Alex Cora has said Betts will hit second in 2019.
