It's an interesting contract. Kikuchi is guaranteed $43 million over the first three years of the deal with a $13 million player option for 2022. The Mariners also have a four-year club option for 2022 worth a total of $66 million. The bottom line is Kikuchi will be in Seattle for at least the next three years. As a 27-year-old last year he posted a 3.08 ERA with 153 strikeouts in 162 2/3 innings last season. He has some theoretical fantasy upside due to how little we know about him at this point.
