This is quite a surprise move, especially given that Tatis has yet to play above Double-A. He was having a decent spring, batting .265 with two home runs and two steals, but it was hardly a performance so eye-popping as to warrant a move like this. Nevertheless, Tatis brings a rare combination of power and speed, and should be an immediate add in all leagues. His playing time is unclear at the moment, but it seems unlikely that he'd be anything but a starter. Reports are that Luis Urias, who was assumed to be the everyday shortstop, will begin in the minors.
