Edwards Jr. has electric stuff but dealt with a back injury earlier this season and then never seemed quite right after he came back. He has a 5.87 ERA over 20 appearances this season but had ERAs of 2.60 and 2.98 in 2018 and 2017, respectively. The Padres are hoping that a change of scenery and some time to find his footing will help the 27-year-old rediscover his form.
