Gausman pitched to a 5.72 ERA in 2019 with the Braves and Reds, so this is not a shocking development. With the Reds looking like they are going to spend big money elsewhere on the free agent market, it makes sense for them to cut Gausman loose as they look for upgrades. For other cost-conscious franchises, Gausman could be an intriguing buy-low opportunity.
