Gio's command was shaky in the 1st inning, then he cruised through the 6th, striking out four and scattering five hits but no runs. After walking two and hitting a batter in the 7th inning, he was removed with the bases loaded and one out. Then two relievers allowed all three runners to score, giving Gio the loss.
