Jorge Mateo goes 2-5 with a home run on Wednesday

Jorge Mateo (2B,SS - BAL)

Jorge Mateo went 2-5 with a single, a home run, 2 RBI, and a run scored in the Padres' win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact
Mateo got the start in right field on Wednesday. Wil Myers was a late scratch due to contact tracing protocols, but has since been cleared. This means it's unlikely Mateo will see an increase in his playing time, but he did take advantage of the time he was given on Wednesday. Mateo crushed a Kevin Ginkel slider 405 feet in the top of the 9th inning. Mateo's home run came off his bat at 109 MPH. It was the 25 year old's first home run of the year, and it is certainly good to see him hit a ball so hard. Mateo should still see sporadic playing time depending on the Padres' rest schedule and injuries. Mateo offers elite speed, but not much else. Without regular playing time, Mateo still remains irrelevant for most of the fantasy world, despite a very nice performance on Wednesday.
