Kevin Gausman (groin) to start on Sunday

Kevin Gausman (SP - TOR)

Giants starting pitcher Kevin Gausman threw a bullpen on Friday and is expected to make a start on Sunday. A minor groin injury has held the right-hander out of the rotation since April 24th, when he allowed just one run over eight innings. (Andrew Baggarly on Twitter)

Gausman's injury was not believed to be major, and his fairly quick return confirms that. The 30-year-old is 1-0 this year with a 2.14 ERA over five starts. He's been responsible for 34 strikeouts and 10 walks through 33.2 innings of work this season. He ranks 36th among starters in the latest rest-of-season expert consensus rankings.
