Montero entered the game in the seventh inning with a runner on first and nobody out after Yusei Kikuchi left the game with an apparent injury. Montero was able to get a strikeout and double play to escape the seventh inning before running into some trouble the following inning when he walked Tony Kemp before surrendering a double to Seth Brown that scored Kemp. Erik Swanson took over on the mound at this point.
