Mark Melancon pitched the 10th inning on Tuesday, striking out one, and giving up one hit for an unearned run which was the ghost runner in the Diamondbacks' 5-3 loss to the Reds.

Melancon has been the Diamondbacks main reliever this season and he was used that way Tuesday as he was brought in for the 10th inning to help close things out and keep it rather clean closing the game with a 5.91 ERA which has come almost 2.00 down from where he was at a few weeks ago. The Diamondbacks reliever has 11 saves on the season and will be set to double that at a minimum this season so long as the team can put him in a good position.
