Hector Neris locks down save in Astros win on Friday

by Brad Richter | Cubs Correspondent | Sat, Jul 23rd 11:58am EDT

Hector Neris pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday to secure a 5-2 win for the Astros over the Mariners. He allowed one hit with one strikeout while recording the save.

Fantasy Impact:

With the Astros' primary closer, Ryan Pressly away from the team on paternity leave, Neris was called on to lock down his first save of the season. After failing to hold the lead against the Yankees on Thursday, Neris was given another chance on Friday which he converted. He will return to a setup role shortly when Pressly returns to his usual ninth-inning role.
